1. It can lift 100 tons

When fully powered, Tony Stark canliftup to 100 tonsin the Iron Man suit. Pretty impressive considering that the Hulk's maximum lift (when calm) is 100tons as well. Stark would later invent the Hulkbuster armor (seen below) thatcould lift 175 tons to be able to combatThe Hulk in certain situations.

2.Tony Stark’s computer system is called JARVIS (standing for “Just A Rather Very Intelligent System”). This is a tribute to Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark’s butler. He was changed to an artificial intelligence to avoid comparisons to Batman/Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth.

3.To prepare for his role as Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. spent five days a week weight training and practiced martial arts to get into shape.

4. Although Iron Man’s colors areknown as red and gold, like many other superheroes, this has been known to change. His first ever suit (Model 1) was grey, simply because it was made of metal salvaged from weapons in a dire situation. He just didn’t have the time to make it pretty!Since then, however, he has made a range of different colored suits. There have been red and silver (Silver Centurion Armor), silvery blue (Artic Armor), and black suits (Stealth Armor). He has also made a suit that is entirely gold. Usually, the suit is a different color because it relates to the function or the storyline. For example, his black suit is a “stealth” suit. The bright red and gold isn’t exactly ideal for sneaking around.

5. Lee modeled Stark on famed businessman Howard Hughes, with all of the real-world industrialist's playboy habits, but without the mental instability that characterized Hughes' later life.

6. Stark initially changed the color of his armor from metallic gray to gold (and later to red and gold) on the advice of a former girlfriend, who said the color would make himless frightening to the people he's trying to help.

7. Iron Man was one of the five founding members of The Avengers in the Marvel Comics universe, teaming up with Hulk, Ant-Man, Thor, and Wasp to defeat Loki inThe Avengers#1. (Captain America didn't join the team until several issues later, but was given “founding member” status.) The team's first headquarters was a New York City mansion given to them by Stark, and the team was funded through the Maria Stark Foundation, a nonprofit charity named after Stark's mother.
