1.The Conjuring
Based on a true story, this horrifying tale follows world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren who were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.
2.The Exorcist
Attempt by a pair of priests to exorcise a demon that has possessed a 12-year-old girl and the supernatural encountersbecame one of the most horrifying movies of alltimes. Almost most of the movies were then inspired from this historic shout-out-with-fear.
3.The Conjuring 2
Sequels are always a tough nut to crack in the film industry, and horror sequels have a nasty habit of being the worst of the bunch. That being said, it appears that James Wan has figured out the horror sequel formula in grand fashion. The Conjuring 2once again highlighted the exploits of paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) as they investigate the infamous Enfield haunting in England
4.The strangers
It’s not the threatening villains that makeThe Strangers potent. The masked assailants trying to gain entry into the vacation home of an unhappy couple (Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler) aren’t particularly memorable; the film’sbare-bones narrative insists upon that anonymity
5.Ouija
As if you needed further proof that playing with Ouija boards is simply asking for trouble, this neat little shocker sees a gang of youngsters invite spirits in the house with deadly consequences.
6.Paranormal activity
Oren Peli's micro-budgeted box office smash wasn’t the first-found footage film to try and scare the bejesus out of viewers, but it cleverly updated that conceit to the digital age. Relying on the simple use of a home video camera installed in a suburban bedroom, it managed to provoke primal fear out of the seemingly mundane, depicting a young couple's gradual unraveling at the hands of hidden supernatural forces.
7.It
Adapted from the novel by Stephen King, watching Tim Curry dressed as a clown, peeking out of sewage pipes, snatching children and poking blood-filled balloons through bathroom sinks is enough to make you never, ever want to go to another kids' birthday party.
8.Insidious
Not only is Insidious full of great camera tricks that scare you without relying on jump scares too heavily, but it is absolutely just a fun film to watch with a much deeper mythosthan just the standard "haunted house" plot.
9.The Invitation
Do not watch this movie alone. Seriously. Yes, it’s terrifying, but it also messes with your mind to such a degree that you’ll need to talk it: probably for days on end.
10.It follows
